Morning at The Quiraing

The Quiraing is a landslip on the eastern face of Meall na Suiramach, the northernmost summit of the Trotternish range on the Isle Of Skye, Scotland. Reaching 543 metres, views from The Quiraing are remarkable. Weather permitting, one can even see Scottish mainland. This, however is a view South on a cloudy spring morning. Taken April 2017.

Sunset at Neist Point

Neist Point (Rubha na h-Eist) is the most westerly point of Isle of Skye. Since 1909, now remotely operated lighthouse has been standing on the tip of the peninsula, guiding ships a safe passage. After a hour-long drive on small, winding roads from Portee visitor is rewarded with beautiful landscape. If you have luck, you can see whales, dolphins and even baskin shark. Single shot, taken April 2017 with gradual neutral density filter. The wind gusts were so powerful I had to use very short shutter speed in order to keep picture sharp.

Somewhere Over The Rainbows, Neist Point, Isle Of Skye

Sometimes it's worth watching over your back (and listening to your wife). Our vacation on Isle of Skye was ... moist. Even though typically April is the driest month on the island, we saw drizzle, pouring rain, sleet, snow and hailstorms each and every day. Typical sunset (or sunrise) shoot included lots of stormy clouds and overcast, except the day we went to Neist Point. While shooting magnificent sunset, stormy clouds started roaming in behind us. While keeping an eye not to be surprised by hailstorm, mrs. noticed this double rainbow appearing behind our backs. Less than 30 seconds later, both rainbows were gone and we were left standing on ... surprise surprise ... pouring rain. Taken April 2017. Single exposure using Laowa 12mm Zero-D with no filters.

Fairy Pools

At the foothills of The Black Cuillins are the Fairy Pools, a series of small waterfalls and crystal clear ponds on the River Brittle. Photogenic and very scenic hiking trail follows the stream and offers visitors beautiful views. Promoted as one of the most magical places in the Scotland, place you need to see before you die and so forth it is guaranteed you are not alone. We visited the pools late Saturday afternoon and by some miracle managed to find a space to park our car. Equipped with hiking boots, we spent 2 hours walking upstream, enjoying views an Scottish spring weather (only sleet and rain, no hailstorms this time). Muddy path made sure 90% of the visitors hiked only up to first pool and turned back, missing the most beautiful scenes. Even though weather wasn’t on our side, I managed to grab quite nice picture of the most famous pool. Taken April 2017.

Blue Hour at Elgol

On the shores of Loch Scavaig lies Elgol (Gaelic for ‘the weeping swan’), a small fishing village famous for its mountain and seascape scenery. After 15 miles of winding one-lane country road one is rewarded with magnificent views of Cuillin Range - weather permitting. Taken April 2017.

Morning at The Old Man of Storr

Old Man is a pinnacle standing next to Storr, rocky hill reaching 720 metres on the Norhern part of Isle of Skye. Reaching the pinnacle or magnificent viewpoint can be reached by walking a steep, muddy hill. Before reaching the top one has to pass “Sanctuary”, area covered with rocks, the remrants of ancient landslips. Even though the path requires scrambling every now and then, it is still one of the most famous and most popular hikes on the island. Taken April 2017.
